UT and OK Launch Glazier Apprenticeships

Utah Glass Association Apprenticeship Program

The Utah Glass Association recently launched a four-year glazier apprenticeship program that allows glaziers to earn a Journeyman certification recognized countrywide. Approved by the U.S. Department of Labor, the program incorporates NGA’s MyGlassClass.com courses, as well as education and life-skill classes developed by UGA. While the apprentice classes of 2022 and 2023 are at capacity, UGA will begin accepting applications for the class of 2024 in Spring 2020. To learn more, contact Maren Fisher at utahglassassociation@gmail.com.

The Oklahoma Glazier Apprenticeship Program, OKGAP, under the umbrella of American Subcontractors Association of Oklahoma, also recently launched a three-year glazier hybrid apprenticeship program that is approved by the U.S. Department of Labor. It incorporates the NGA’s glazier apprentice curriculum featuring 33 online MyGlassClass.com courses and six instructional manuals. For information on the OKGAP contact Tami Hasselwander at tami@asaok.org.

The NGA glazier apprentice curriculum offers 432 hours of coursework necessary to meet the classroom requirements of most three-year state and federal apprenticeship programs. For additional information on how to incorporate the curriculum—or MyGlassClass.com courses—into your training program, contact Jenni Chase at jchase@glass.org.
