March is Women's History Month, and March 3-9 is Women in Construction Week, or WIC Week. Help us spotlight the vital role women play in building the future of the glass industry.
This year, we interviewed four women in leadership roles in the glass and fenestration fields, to get their perspective on working in the industry and thoughts on how to encourage future workers. Check out their first-hand experiences on LinkedIn throughout the month of March.
How We Move Forward
1. NGA is committed to helping the industry build its workforce now and into the future. Part of that effort is raising awareness of the trades among young people. We've developed the Guide to Recruiting at High School Career Fairs, plus fun stickers and postcard giveaways. Check them out, and join us in the effort.
2. Check out this video of our 2023 Women in Glass + Fenestration event, promoting recruitment, retention and overall support for women in the industry. We hope to see you at the next event!
3. Read a WIC Week article from Glass Magazine featuring Kristie Rehberger: Breaking Barriers and Navigating the Glass Industry
"We need people’s support and enthusiasm to get the word out and help interested people find their own passion for glass. We all play a part in sparking this passion and curiosity in potential future glaziers." --Kristie Rehberger, A GlasCo
An initiative of the National Association of Women in Construction (NAWIC), the focus of Women in Construction Week celebrates and promotes the role of women in the construction industry. This year's theme, 'Keys to the Future', celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry.
