Q&A with Saul Greenspan
What products and services does your company offer?
VGD offers residential & commercial glazing, from shower enclosures to glass partitions and railings. No matter how big or small, our residential services include insulated glass units (IGU’s), single, double hung windows, and custom designs. Our commercial services include office partitions, store fronts, shower enclosures for hotels, gyms and other commercial facilities, and mirrors.
What are your company's keys to success?
- First and foremost, put the customer first.
- Excellent communication - from estimates all the way through to project completion is essential.
- Deliver high quality products and use the highest quality materials, so you gain a reputation for providing long-lasting results.
- And finally, invest in your staff with training to stay updated with innovations and keep older techniques fresh. This includes gaining certifications to build credibility and attract premium clients.
What’s something your company does that sets you apart from others, or that has been helpful to the way you do business or your bottom line?
Generally, we know when customers or contractors ask for an estimate they want it quickly, so we are typically able to provide all estimates within 48 hours, and for more complex commercial jobs we guarantee a week.
One boon my mentor shared with me was to always overcommunicate delays or mistakes. While it can be uncomfortable at times, our contractors and customers have come back to us time and time again, knowing we are ethical and honest.
Why did you join NGA?
We believe staying up to-date with trends and the latest industry news is crucial to meeting our goals. Joining NGA provides us everything we can ask for as it relates to glass. Whether it is macroeconomic trends or training for my glaziers.
What is a big glass project or accomplishment for your company?
We were very proud to be selected for a large residential project that included glass railings, and six floors of glass partitions and showers. We were called in at the last minute and had to turn the project around in less than 3 weeks. Aside from getting the opportunity to begin with and finishing it by the deadline, the contractor now uses us for all his glass & glazing needs. Going the extra mile pays off in the end!
