What is a big glass project or accomplishment for your company?

New Valley Hospital

Project Challenge: The New Valley Hospital, designed in collaboration with HDR Architecture, represents a significant milestone for Valley Health in Paramus, New Jersey. This 890,000-square-foot facility is a cornerstone of a new medical campus aimed at delivering high-tech, high-touch care, reflecting Valley Health's commitment to its community.
The project involved the integration of 10 different decorative glass techniques throughout the hospital, including textured, printed imagery, back-painted, gradient, and laminated glass. The design challenge was to seamlessly translate artwork and colors across multiple spaces—ensuring consistency from panel to panel, wall to wall, and room to room—while maintaining a cleanable, durable, and pathogen-resistant surface suitable for a healthcare environment.

Our Solution: Leveraging Skyline Design’s vertically integrated manufacturing capabilities, all glass types were produced under one roof, delivering a seamless and consistent aesthetic throughout New Valley Hospital. State-of-the-art processes, including digital printing, lamination, and back-painting, allowed Skyline to accurately translate the desired artwork and colors across various glass types, supporting the hospital's cohesive design vision. This approach ensured that every element of the glass installations, from textured panels to gradient transitions, met stringent healthcare standards while enhancing the overall patient experience.
Recognizing the importance of hygiene in healthcare settings, we utilized glass's natural properties as a non-porous, pathogen-resistant material. This made it an ideal choice for environments that require frequent cleaning and maintenance, contributing to a safer and more hygienic hospital environment. By closely collaborating with HDR Architecture and Valley Health, Skyline delivered a solution that not only fulfilled the aesthetic and functional requirements but also aligned with the hospital’s commitment to high-quality patient care.

Result: The project resulted in a visually cohesive and functionally superior environment that significantly enhances the hospital's interior spaces. The integration of ten different glass types across various areas of New Valley Hospital created a unified aesthetic that supports the design intent throughout the facility. The durability and cleanability of the glass installations ensure long-lasting vibrancy and ease of maintenance, supporting Valley Health's commitment to providing a safe, welcoming, and healing environment for patients, staff, and visitors.
Skyline Design’s ability to manage the entire glass production process in-house, combined with a dedication to quality and innovation, delivered a solution that exceeded expectations, setting a new benchmark for the use of glass in healthcare design.
