Q&A with Ryan Woodruff

What products and services does Egan's InterClad group offer?
We offer curtainwall, glass, glazing, and metal panels. Our product line is Tru-Therm, which is owned, designed, engineered, fabricated, and installed by Egan trade professionals as a top-quality feature to cap our full aluminum product line.

What is your company philosophy?
To provide innovative, high-quality, integrated skilled trades and services that build growth opportunities for our employees and customers, while upholding our foundation of safety and keeping our promises.

What are your company's keys to success?

  • Act with Integrity -  it’s one of Egan Company’s core values and a key component in our success over the last 79 years.
  • Employ the best team and make sure they have the tools and support they need to succeed.
  • Take care of your employees, they’ll take care of the customers and ultimately the business.
  • Safety, it’s our number one priority each and every day on each and every job.

What’s something your company does that sets you apart from others, or that has been helpful to the way you do business and your bottom line?
At Egan Company and within the InterClad team, we work really hard to follow our process on every project. That process starts with the kickoff meeting and continues all the way through to project completion and handoff. We’ve certainly made adjustments over the years, but the process has largely remained the same. We feel this gives us the best chance at being successful for our customer and for our business.

Why did you join NGA?
We joined NGA for the opportunities to network and share industry information, to participate in NGA technical committees and task groups, and to support our national industry association.

What is a big glass project or accomplishment for your company?

Essentia Health - Vision Northland in Duluth, MN.

This beautiful new 942,000 square foot hospital and clinic rises 12 stories overlooking Lake Superior. The hospital and clinic provide amazing views and the highest level of care throughout its 344 patient rooms, 27 Operating Rooms, 2 ICU floors, ER Department, and Women's and Children floor. Egan's InterClad team installed over 186,000 square feet of unitized curtainwall and nearly 28,000 square feet of stick curtainwall to enclose this premier healthcare facility. The hospital's 32 custom silkscreen patterns not only provide a bird-friendly facade, but also mimic the waves of Lake Superior. Built into the side of a hill, the building features an elevation change of over 100 feet from the north end to the south end of the building creating multiple challenges for the construction team to overcome.
